| Pre-Worship Visitation | ||
| Worship is Sunday morning beginning at 10:45 am - Following are descriptions of what to expect. | |
| The people of First United Methodist Church are friendly welcome visitors with open hearts, open hands, and open minds. | |
| Ladies and young ladies wear dresses and/or dress slacks, and at times the young girls (up to 8 years old) wear shorts. | |
| Men and young men wear dress coats with ties, polo shirts with jeans, and at times (more often than not) the young men wear t-shirts and casual shorts. | |
| During Sunday School and Worship, a Nursery is available for newborns - five year olds and is equipped with a baby bed, toys for toddlers, and a restroom. | |
| During the 1st Sunday of each month, Holy Communion (a remembrance of Jesus Last Supper with His disciples before His death) is celebrated. Those who desire Holy Communion is open to everyone in attendance. Everyone who desires Holy Communion goes to the front of the Church and kneels (it is okay to stand if desired) at the railing (each pew is directed by the ushers), a preselected member of the congregation gives everybody a piece of bread (symbolizing Christ's body) and the Pastor then brings a chalice with grape juice (symbolizing Christ's blood). The piece of bread is dipped into the grape juice and then is eaten. After the Pastor says a prayer, everybody returns to their seats. Holy Communion will be served to people at their pew if they have difficulty going to the front of the Church. | |

| The Greeting | The Pastor welcomes everybody. |
| The Announcements | The Pastor and congregation announce announces upcoming events, success stories such as the local school One Act Play advancing, etc. |
| The Call to Worship | The congregation normally stands during the song - as requested by the pastor, but it is okay to remain seated if desired. |
| The Invocation | The Pastor prays out loud and the congregation stands during the prayer. |
| The Opening Hymn | The congregation normally stands during the song - as requested by the pastor, but it is okay to remain seated if desired. |
| Children's Time | Children ages 3 - 10 go to the front of the Church where a member of the congregation, who has previously volunteered, has a short bible lesson for them. |
| Prayer Requests | The Pastor ask that prayer requests be written on the bottom of the Prayer List (that is inserted in the bulletin) and placed in the offering plates. |
| The Giving of Gifts and Offerings | Four preselected adults or youth (or a mixture of) walk on each side of the pews and pass the offering plates - monetary gifts Prayer Requests in the offering plates. |
| The Offertory | This is the music that is played while the offering plates are being passed. |
| The Doxology | This song is sung after the offering plates have been passed through all of the pews and are taken to the front of the Church for the Pastor's blessing. |
| The Second Hymn | The congregation normally stands during the song - as requested by the pastor, but it is okay to remain seated if desired. |
| Joys and Concerns | Celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries, academic and athletic successes, etc. are announced. When a birthday is announced we sing a special version of "Happy Birthday" and substitute "God Bless You" for the person's name. The Pastor announces the new Prayer Requests that were placed in the offering plates. |
| The Morning Prayer | The Pastor prays out loud. |
| The Lord's Prayer | Prayed in unison and is printed in the bulletin. |
| Reading of the Scripture | The Pastor or a member of the congregation, who has previously volunteered, reads the scripture that the Pastor has based his message on. |
| The Message | The Pastor gives his message (sermon). |
| The Closing Hymn | The congregation normally stands during the song - as requested by the pastor, but it is okay to remain seated if desired. |
| The Sending Forth | The Pastor gives a blessing and sends us into the world to do the work of Christ. |
| The Prelude | This is the music that is played while people are exiting the Church. |
| Midweek Recharge is Wednesday evening for children, youth, and adults and begins at 5:30 and is normally completed by 7:45. Following are descriptions of what to expect: | |
| The dress is casual including jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, casual shorts, and tennis shoes. Teens arrive as they complete their after-school activities. | |
| An informal meal, served buffet-style begins at 5:30 and people eat as they arrive. The meal is prepared by volunteer groups and/or individuals and is free. | |
| At 6:30, the various Children, Jr. High and High School, and Adult groups go into various Bible studies. | |
| Descriptions | |
| Children up to 5th Grade | These groups meet for age appropriate Bible studies. |
| Jr. High & High School | |
| Adults | This group is studying "God is Closer Than You Think", a video study with John Ortberg. The next study will be "If You Want To Walk On Water, You've Got To Get Out Of the Boat" a six-session journey on learning to Trust God and is also with John Ortberg. |
